Frikki Walker, director of music at St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow, has been made an Associate of the Royal School of Church Music.
The award is bestowed for achievements in church music or liturgy of national significance, or for important musical or liturgical work within the RSCM.
“Some of the freshest and most imaginative Sunday worship has been broadcast from St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow,” said an RSCM spokesman.
“Much of this is due to the approach taken by Frikki Walker in directing a volunteer mixed-voice cathedral choir.
“He has produced a distinctive Scottish tradition which is not hidebound by Anglican convention.”
