The College, Millport

The College of the Holy Spirit, on the Isle of Cumbrae, combines the qualities of a Christian retreat house and a Visit Scotland Three Star guest house.

Located beside Britain's smallest cathedral, The Cathedral of The Isles, the College was built in 1851 by William Butterfield under the patronage of the 6th Earl of Glasgow, who had a vision to create a 'new Iona'. The College was originally built as a theological college for the Scottish Episcopal Church.

The guest house offers guests a unique combination of modern luxury and homemade meals in a building rich in history and character. The house has 16 bedrooms accommodating up to 34 guests. The Cathedral and College lie within eight acres of their own grounds, and are only five minutes walk from the seafront.

The Cathedral and College has a long tradition of fine music and there are concerts in the Cathedral every summer Sunday afternoon under the direction of Alexander Chisholm, the Cathedral Organist and Lay Leader. The Cathedral and College offer wonderful location for choirs, groups and all musicians to come and stay, rehearse, perform and record in a peaceful, creative environment.

The Warden of the College has designed a programme of themed retreats which can be viewed on the College website.
