About the Church in Society Committee

The Church in Society Committee believes:

  • that the Scottish Episcopal Church is a diverse community of Christian people within our local society, our Scottish nation, and our global community.
  • that through 'spiritual activism' we will address at least a few of the major issues facing our Scottish society in the 21st Century.
  • that our role is one of being an advocate for positive and constructive change on issues where there is currently inherent injustice including advocating that government policy and service provision should respect and foster the potential of each individual.
  • that we enhance our role ecumenically and as an inter-faith partner, working together to promote positive change in the relationships within our Scottish -- and global community.

Please see Priorities for details of the issues we are focussing on in 2008. Our collection of Justice, Peace & Creation Links and Resources Library offer a wide range of online and published resource related to the work of the Committee.

Friday 16 May 2008

'Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life: raise us, who trust in him, from the death of sin to the life of righteousness, that we may seek those things which are above, where he reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.'
