The Committee for Relations with People of Other Faiths (CRPOF) seeks to promote the importance of interfaith relations and to engage positively in interfaith forums across Scotland.
CRPOF is a sub-committee of the Church in Society Committee which is under the Mission and Ministry Board.
CRPOF works closely with the Churches Agency for Interfaith Relations in Scotland (CAIRS).
Members of the committee are involved with local interfaith associations as well as national and international networks. The committee can help find speakers for interfaith events or diocesan meetings and encourages interfaith collaboration on local social issues or campaigns, such as Make Poverty History.
Events
Through the Church in Society Committee, CRPOF supports the Festival of Spirituality and Peace which is hosted at St John's Church, Princes Street, Edinburgh.
CRPOF encourages congregations to observe Interfaith Week at the end of November each year.
Publications and Resources
In June 2006, in collaboration with the Doctrine Committee, CRPOF published The Inter-Faith Encounter in Scotland, the third Grosvenor Essay, which is available from the Publications section.
This essay describes the contemporary situation in Scotland and the experience of people who have been involved in interfaith encounters. The booklet is offered to Scottish Episcopal congregations as a tool for discussion. Responses to the essay from people of other faiths are currently being published in Inspires, the Scottish Episcopal Church magazine.
