The Doctrine Committee of the Scottish Episcopal Church is one of the pendant committees of the Faith and Order Board. It operates in three main ways:
- By responding to doctrinal matters referred to it by the Board, or by the College of Bishops.
- By giving input to ecumenical collaborative ventures on matters of doctrinal significance.
- By producing a series of essays. Called Grosvenor Essays, these are published on an annual basis, and are designed to inform and stimulate people within the SEC - and beyond.
The Committee reflects upon Doctrine and encourages others to do so: to this extent it is like the Doctrine Commission of the Church of England, though it does not have the capacity to issue formal doctrinal statements on behalf of the SEC.
