Stewardship is seen to be a tool of mission in the Scottish Episcopal Church and a means by which individuals and congregations can explore how they can reach out into God's world and to God's people. We are blessed by God's grace (Charis) and as such we in turn need to find ways in which we can give thanks (Eucharista) for that grace.
At General Synod 2006 a call to stewardship by the Bishops was taken up as a challenge to the church - a challenge to every individual, congregation, diocese and the Province. A raft of resources exists to assist those responding to the challenge including 'Charis'.
Charis as a programme consists of three discrete parts that can be used as a whole or as individual resources; contextual Bible studies on stewardship texts to stimulate thinking; daily prayer resources to encourage prayerful reflection on the call to stewardship and a simple 'Increased Giving Scheme'.
The resources of Local Collaborative Ministry and Continuing Congregational Development can also be used alongside Charis to help in the discernment of how one can best use and offer one's talents to the work of God.
