The Interchurch Relations Committee is responsible for promoting inter-church working: in the local sphere through the development of Local Ecumenical Partnerships; on the Scottish scene through membership of ACTS (Action of Churches Together in Scotland); and on the national level through work with all the other ecumenical bodies in the UK and especially through the work of CTBI (Churches Together in Britain and Ireland).
The Committee is also responsible for promoting shared work with the Anglican Communion, through the Anglican Consultative Council and for relationships with the wider church through membership of the Porvoo Communion, the Reuilly Agreement, and as an observer on the Meissen Commission.
We are also a member of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and are actively involved in encouraging churches in Scotland to be involved in projects such as the Decade to Overcome Violence and the campaigns for HIV/AIDS awareness.
The Europe Group, under the convenership of Reverend Canon John Lindsay, works on behalf of the Interchurch Relations Committee on any specific pieces of work which need more in-depth study and is responsible for the Kirchentag preparations for our members.
