Blessing of Bikes in St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow
For the first time in Scotland cyclists will present their bikes for a blessing at St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow (300 Great Western Road) at 11am on Saturday 19June. The blessing, which will be given by the Very Rev Kelvin Holdsworth, Provost of St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow is part of the Glasgow Cycling Festival and is inspired by the Blessing of the Bikes which has been taking place in New York for the past 12 years.

A first for Lay Readers in Scotland
60 Lay Readers from across Scotland will meet this weekend at Tulliallan for a 48-hour Conference, sponsored by the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway. This is the first time such a gathering has been held in the Scottish Episcopal Church.

New Dean named for Diocese of Glasgow & Galloway
At the Glasgow & Galloway Synod on Saturday 27 February, the Bishop-Elect Very Rev Dr Gregor Duncan announced that following his Consecration as Bishop on 23 April it is his intention to appoint the Rev Ian Barcroft as the new Dean of the Diocese.

New Bishop elected for Glasgow and Galloway
The Very Rev Dr Gregor Duncan was today elected the new bishop of Glasgow and Galloway, following the retirement last year of the Rt Rev Dr Idris Jones, who had served the diocese as Bishop for 11 years.

Prayer for the Day
The Very Rev Kelvin Holdsworth, the Provost of St Mary's Cathedral in Glasgow is featured in the BBC Radio 4 Prayer for the Day slot on 16 January 2010 and 18-22 January 2010. The two minute slot is broadcast at 0543. Those who want to hear these broadcasts but who are not early risers can listen to them using the BBC's iPlayer via the Prayer for the Day website. The text of each broadcast will also be published on Kelvin Holdsworth's blog.

BBC Radio 4 Sunday Worship from St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow
Sunday Worship (08.10am) on BBC Radio Four on 18 February came live from St Mary's Cathedral, Glasgow. The Provost of the Cathedral, The Very Rev Kelvin Holdsworth, preached a sermon on 'discovering God's call as night turns to day'. The service was a choral morning liturgy featuring the full choir of adults and trebles and was led by the Rev Shona Lillie. The service can be heard again online via the BBC iPlayer for 7 days.

Church Traditions Brought Together in Unique Partnership in Dumfries
On the afternoon of Sunday 30 September 2007 a unique Covenant was signed in St John's Scottish Episcopal Church, Dumfries, linking the Scottish Episcopal Church's Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway and the Glasgow Circuit of the Methodist Church in Scotland.

Primus accepts invitation to become joint Patron of InclusiveChurch

MPs Sent Anti-Trident Message
