SEC Welcomes Church of Norway Visitors
A delegation of church leaders from the Church of Norway, including its Presiding Bishop, the Rt Rev Olav Skjevesland, attended a Choral Evensong at St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh before meeting today (29 February) with the Primus and other senior representatives from the Scottish Episcopal Church.

Bishop of Edinburgh to Speak at Climate Change Conference
The Bishop of Edinburgh, the Rt Rev Brian Smith, is to speak at a Christian Aid conference on climate change on Saturday 17 November. 'A New Earth?' will take place at Murrayfield Church Centre in Ormidale Terrace, and include speakers from Kenya, London and Edinburgh itself.

Primus’ Reflection on Remembrance Sunday
The Most Rev Dr Idris Jones, Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church and Bishop of Glasgow & Galloway, reflecting on Remembrance Sunday, said: "I have always felt that marking Remembrance in the original way - at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month - was a full tribute to those who have died serving their country, fighting to preserve freedom and sustain justice."

A Peace Covenant for Scotland
The Rt Rev Brian Smith, Bishop of Edinburgh, joined First Minister Alex Salmond and the Rt Rev Sheilagh Kesting, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in signing a Peace Covenant for Scotland, on Wednesday 1 November at the Scottish Parliament.

Response to the British Gambling Prevalence Survey 2007
Responding to the Gambling Commission's 2007 British Gambling Prevalence Survey, the Rt Rev David Chillingworth, Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane said: "Gambling is now mainstream in British life through the presence of the National Lottery and scratch cards. Its presence steadily corrodes the quality of our national life."

Primus accepts invitation to become joint Patron of InclusiveChurch

Opening of 2007 General Synod
The 2007 General Synod of the Scottish Episcopal Church was constituted during a Choral Eucharist Service in St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh. In his Charge to the Synod, the Primus, The Most Rev Dr Idris Jones, challenged Synod members to commit themselves to be the Scottish Episcopal Church at its best and encouraged them to make their churches more inclusive.

New Bishop Elected for Moray, Ross & Caithness
The Rev Canon Mark Strange has today been elected as the new Bishop for the Diocese of Moray, Ross & Caithness. Mark, presently Rector of Holy Trinity Church, Elgin, said: "I am so excited by this opportunity to work alongside the people of the Highlands and Moray."

Four candidates have been short-listed for the post of Bishop of Moray, Ross & Caithness (one of the seven dioceses of the Scottish Episcopal Church) which became vacant last November following the retirement of the Right Reverend John Crook, who served the diocese as Bishop for seven years.
