The Rt Rev Brian Smith, Bishop of Edinburgh, joined First Minister Alex Salmond and the Rt Rev Sheilagh Kesting, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in signing a Peace Covenant for Scotland, on Wednesday 1 November at the Scottish Parliament.

Developed by Scotland's for Peace, the Covenant declares: "We desire that Scotland should be known for its international contribution to peace and justice rather than for waging war."
