A Prayer for Prisoners’ Week: 16 to 23 November

Posted Monday 17 November 2008

A Prayer for Prisoners’ Week, 16 to 23 November 2008:

Loving God, your Son knew what it is like to be a prisoner.
Help us to remember those in prison, for whatever reason,
Without judging and without condemning,
believing that no-one is beyond your grace and forgiveness.
We ask this is in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

This prayer is taken from the Prayer and Action booklet produced by the Scottish Episcopal Church. The booklet highlights a different topic each month; prayers are offered and contact details, further information and suggestions of social action are given. The booklet’s section on prisons includes further prayers offered for the victims of crime, for prisoners and their families, for chaplains and prison staff.

Prayer for the Week

Candle

Sunday 8 November 2009

'Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life: raise us, who trust in him, from the death of sin to the life of righteousness, that we may seek those things which are above, where he reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.'
