In an article in Scotland on Sunday newspaper the Bishop of Edinburgh, the Rt Rev Brian Smith, says that Britian’s first paperback only bookshop - opened in Edinburgh in 1959 - deserves to be commemorated as a cultural nexus from which the ideas for the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Traverse Theatre emerged.
