The Bishop of Edinburgh, the Rt Rev Brian Smith, will today join the Justice Secretary, the Deputy Chief Constable of Lothian & Borders Police, and the Leader of Edinburgh Council in a visit to Edinburgh Central Mosque.
They will meet with members of other faith communities and will discuss community relations in the aftermath of last week's terror attack in Glasgow.
In advance of today's meeting, The Bishop of Edinburgh said: "The country must unite in its opposition to all terrorist attacks. No person of goodwill can condone either the recent attacks themselves, or the reaction of violence expressed towards the Muslim community which they may have provoked.
"If a mutual fear begins to take root in our society we shall all be the losers. We must take every opportunity that presents itself to meet with people of different faiths, for when we meet we can listen to how we each feel the effects of living through the current climate of terrorism. With such knowledge and with such mutual understanding, the bonds that unite us all in opposing such violence will know a significant deepening."
