The Bishop of Edinburgh, the Rt Rev Brian Smith, is to speak at a Christian Aid conference on climate change on Saturday 17 November.
'A New Earth?' will take place at Murrayfield Church Centre in Ormidale Terrace, and include speakers from Kenya, London and Edinburgh itself.
Other speakers include Esther Musili, director of Ukambani Christian Community Services in Kenya; and John Barratt, Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West and shadow Under-Secretary for International Development.
"There is more evidence than ever of the devastating effects of our changed climate, so this is exactly the right time for a conference," says Becky Campbell, who is a volunteer in Christian Aid’s Edinburgh office. "I’m really excited about the range of workshops on offer, from drought recovery in Kenya to discussions about starting up green congregations locally, led by Bishop Brian Smith."
Also on offer will be the chance to question Andrew Pendleton, Christian Aid’s senior policy specialist on climate change; a session sharing imaginative fundraising tips; and an opportunity to find out about becoming a volunteer teacher for Christian Aid.
