Engaging with the Lambeth Conference on every level

A message from the Most Rev Idris Jones, Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church:

All the Bishops of the Scottish Episcopal Church are fully engaged with the Lambeth Conference at every level - Bible Study Groups; Indaba encounters; at plenary events and at the various meetings where input is gained across a variety of subjects.

The most remarkable experience is being in a multi-cultural environment where worship can be conducted in almost any language that can be named. Major issues are being raised and discussed in every encounter and we hope that the reporting process will make this clear. The opening service was a never to be repeated occasion (except by replaying the DVD when it is released!). A highlight was the dancing in celebration of the Gospel Book and reading, and a great sermon from the Bishop of Columbo.

Following a period of reflection the Bishops of the Scottish Episcopal Church will share more about their experiences of the Lambeth Conference. There is a lot to reflect upon and think about.

Prayer for the Week

Candle

Sunday 8 November 2009

'Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life: raise us, who trust in him, from the death of sin to the life of righteousness, that we may seek those things which are above, where he reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.'
