As a member of the Scottish Churches Rural Group, the Scottish Episcopal Church will be represented at The Churches in Rural Scotland Stand at the Royal Highland Show, 19 to 22 June 2008. The Stand is number 589, on Avenue O.
The meeting of the General Synod of the SEC last week supported the request by the Diocese of Aberdeen & Orkney to establish a new Rural Commission with the remit to:
- identify the major changes likely to impact on rural communities in the coming decade;
- to assess where there is scope for the Scottish Episcopal Church, both alone and working with other member churches of The Scottish Churches Rural Group to act so as to mitigate the adverse impact of change;
- to suggest what might be the most appropriate forms of ministry to meet the needs of rural communities in the future.
