The Rt Rev Brian Smith, Bishop of Edinburgh, is to host a major Climate Change Conference in Edinburgh on Saturday 11 October 2008. The Edinburgh Churches Climate Change Conference is organised by the Edinburgh Climate Network, an ecumenical group of Christians concerned about climate change.
The conference, which will take place at The Performing Arts Centre, Stewart Melville College, is supported by the Scottish Episcopal Church as well as a number of other church and environmental groups.
The conference will be a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the science and theology of climate change, as well as how to respond to the challenge as a community, in our churches and individually. The day will be hosted by The Rt Revd Brian Smith, Bishop of Edinburgh, with expert speakers: Chris Rapley, Director of the Science Museum in London; Elaine Storkey, President of Tearfund; Michael Northcott, Professor of Ethics at the University of Edinburgh; and John Ferguson, Manager of Strategic Projects at the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
Please see the Edinburgh Climate Network website for further details.
