The General Meeting of the Mothers’ Union will take place in Edinburgh next week (the Meeting was last held in Scotland in 2003, when it took place in Glasgow). In celebration of the world-wide work of the Mothers’ Union two services are being held - one in St.Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Palmerston Place, where the Most Rev David Chillingworth, Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church will preach; and the other in St John’s Episcopal Church, Princes Street, where the Rt Rev Dr Bob Gillies, Bishop of Aberdeen & Orkney will preach. Both services will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 8th June. The demand for attendance at the services of celebration has been so great that tickets for the Cathedral sold out several months ago and the additional service in St John’s Church was offered. The Mothers’ Union Chief Executive, Reg Bailey, will be attending the service in the Cathedral, together with with representatives of Mothers’ Union trustees and staff.
