Short list for election for new Bishop of Edinburgh
Three candidates have been short-listed for election to the office of Bishop of Edinburgh which became vacant in August 2011 following the retirement of the Rt Rev Brian Smith, who had served the Diocese of Edinburgh since 2001. The candidates are: the Very Rev Dr John Armes, Dean of the Diocese of Edinburgh and Canon of St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh; Rector of St John the Evangelist church, Edinburgh; the Rev Michael Parker, Senior Minister for English-speaking congregations, All Saints Cathedral, Cairo; the Rev Canon Dr Alvyn Pettersen, Canon Theologian of Worcester Cathedral.

Christmas reflection
In his Christmas reflection the Most Rev David Chillingworth, Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church suggests that our society is still a place of unacceptable imbalances in the distribution of wealth.

Scottish Episcopal Church responds to consultation on same sex marriage
The Scottish Episcopal Church has today submitted its response to the Scottish Government’s consultation document on the registration of civil partnerships and same sex marriage through the Faith and Order Board of its General Synod.
