Guidance and Resources for Vestries

This section provides access to resources that vestries will find useful in the day to day running of their churches. It is currently under development and more will be added to during the next few months.

The resources available here will supplement and gradually replace the Vestry Handbook (last updated 2000/ 2001). The initial focus will be in providing resources to assist vestries meet the requirements of the new charity laws and accounting rules.

Charity Regulations Guidance

A series of documents already issued by the General Synod Office to assist Vestry members deal with the specific requirements of Scottish charity regulations.

Legacy Materials

A set of leaflets relating to legacies designed to raise awareness and give information to clergy, vestries and individual members of a congregation in the hopes that they will stimulate thought and prayer and encourage the leaving of legacies to the church.
