The Rev James Geen will be appointed Interim Priest at St Oswald, Maybole in the United Diocese of Glasgow & Galloway on 1 August.
The Rev Sarah Shaw will be appointed Curate at Christ Church, Falkirk in the Diocese of Edinburgh on 1 August.
The Very Rev John Conway will be appointed Provost at Cathedral Church of St Mary, Edinburgh in the Diocese of Edinburgh on 17 September .
The Rev Douglas Challis died on the 14 June 2017 aged 95. Following a Chaplaincy at Summer Fields School Oxford from 1958 – 1960, he worked as an Assistant Chaplain at Stowe School, Buckinghamshire from 1960-64. He worked as a Chaplin at St Bees School, Cumbria from 1964-67 and then as a Chaplin at Reeds School, Cobham 1967-80. He retired in 1980 but held Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Canterbury. In 2005, he worked as a Chaplin at the Crowhurst Church Healing Centre. In 2007 – 2010 he held Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness, and a Licence to Officiate from 2010 in the Diocese until his passing. May he rest in peace, and rise in glory.
The Rev Canon John Symon died on 6 July 2017 aged 91. He served as a Curate in St Cuthbert, Colinton and was Curate-in-Charge at St Hilda, Colinton and St Mungo, Balerno from 1952 – 1956. From there he became a Chaplin in the forces from 1956 – 1959. Afterwards he served as a Rector at St John the Evangelist, Forfar from 1959 – 1958. He then took the position as rector at St Mary, Dunblane in 1968 – 1985. He was installed as a Canon at St Nininan’s Cathedral Perth in 1974 – 1991. In 1985, he became Chaplin at Chapel of the Holy Trinity, Glenalmond until his retirement in 1991. During his retirement, he became Priest-in-Charge at St Fillan, Killin in 1995 – 1998. In 2000, he was made Canon Emeritus in the Diocese of St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane until his passing. May he rest in peace, and rise in glory.
