Word is as essential an aspect of Christian worship as Sacrament. For this reason A Service of the Word (2015) has been authorised under Canon 22. This liturgy has the fourfold Eucharistic shape of Gathering, Ministry of the Word, Prayer, and Sending Out: it may indeed be seen as a Eucharist of the Word.
A Service of the Word is primarily intended for use, with the appointed Eucharistic readings of the day, as the main service on Sundays when the Eucharist is not celebrated, but it is suitable in any circumstances where a celebration of the Word is desired.
