Conclusion


Romans 5

1. Now that we have been justified through faith,*
we are at peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
2. And so we exult in our hope of the splendour of God*
and we even exult in the sufferings we endure.
3. For our hope is not in vain,*
because God’s love has flooded our inmost hearts through the
Holy Spirit which has been given to us.
4. When we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly;*
he died for us while we were still sinners, and so God’s love
for us is revealed.
5. We are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us,*
for nothing can separate us from the love of God which is ours,

Mark 3.7-19a

Jesus departed with his disciples to the lake, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him; hearing all that he was doing, they came to him in great numbers from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and the region around Tyre and Sidon. He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him; for he had cured many, so that all who had diseases pressed upon him to touch him. Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and shouted, ‘You are the Son of God!’ But he sternly ordered them not to make him known. He went up the mountain and called to him those whom he wanted, and they came to him. And he appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles, to be with him, and to be sent out to proclaim the message, and to have authority to cast out demons. Lord, have mercy upon us.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.

Collect of the Day

O God,
you see that we lack the strength to help ourselves:
protect us both inwardly and outwardly;
that our bodies may be guarded from adversity,
and our minds may be defended from such thoughts
as assault and harm the soul;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, world without end.
