O God make speed to save us;
O Lord make haste to help us.

Glory to God, Source of all Being, Eternal Word, and Holy Spirit;*
as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever.
Amen.

PSALMODY

Antiphon: With you is the well of life,* and in your light we see light.
(Psalm 36.9)

Opening (from (Psalm 36))

1. Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,*
and your faithfulness to the clouds.

2. Your righteousness is like the strong mountains, your justice like the great deep;*
you save both man and beast, O Lord.

3. How priceless is your love, O God!*
your people take refuge under the shadow of your wings.

4. They feast upon the abundance of your house;*
you give them drink from the river of your delights.

Psalm 120
1. When I was in trouble, I called to the Lord; *
I called to the Lord who answered me.

2. Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips *
and from the deceitful tongue.

3. What shall be done to you, and what more besides, *
O you deceitful tongue?

4. The sharpened arrows of a warrior, *
along with hot glowing coals.

5. How hateful it is that I must lodge in Meshech *
and dwell among the tents of Kedar!

6. Too long have I had to live *
among the enemies of peace.

7. I am on the side of peace, *
but when I speak of it, they are for war.

Glory …

from where is my help to come?

the maker of heaven and earth.

3. The Lord will not let your foot be moved *
and the One who watches over you will not fall asleep.

4. Behold, the One who keeps watch over Israel *
shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5. The Lord, the Lord, watches over you; *
the Lord is your shade at your side,

6. so that the sun shall not strike you by day, *
nor the moon by night.

7. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil *
and shall keep you safe.

8. The Lord shall watch over your going out and your coming in, *
from this time forth for evermore.

Conclusion

Colossians 1

1. Give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ;*
he has delivered us from the dominion of darkness.

2. He has transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,*
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.

3. He is the image of the invisible God,*
the first-born of all creation.

4. For in him all things were created,*
in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible.

5 He is the head of the body, the church;*
he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead.

6. In him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell,*
to reconcile all things to himself, making peace by the blood of his cross.

READING(S)

John 14.1-14

‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling-places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.’ Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.’ Philip said to him, ‘Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, “Show us the Father”? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.

Silence

Response (Psalm 30.1)

I will exalt you, O Lord, for you have lifted me up; alleluia, alleluia.
I will exalt you, O Lord, for you have lifted me up; alleluia, alleluia.
You have not let my enemies triumph over me.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
I will exalt you, O Lord, for you have lifted me up; alleluia, alleluia.

SONG OF MARY

Song of Mary Antiphon: The Lord is risen indeed,* alleluia!

1 My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
*my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour;
2 for he has looked with favour on his lowly servant;*
from this day all generations will call me blessed.
3 The Almighty has done great things for me*
and holy is his name.
4 He has mercy on those who fear him*
in every generation.
5 He has shown the strength of his arm;*
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
6 He has cast down the mighty from their thrones*
and has lifted up the lowly.
7 He has filled the hungry with good things,*
and the rich he has sent away empty.
8 He has come to the help of his servant Israel,*
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
9 the promise he made to our forebears,*
to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory to the Father... (may be said by all)

PRAYERS

Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Do not bring us to the time of trial,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.

Collect of the Day

O Lord of life and power,
who, through the mighty resurrection of your Son,
have overcome the old order of sin and death,
and have made all things new in him:
grant that we, being dead to sin,
and alive to you in Jesus Christ,
may reign with him in glory;
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, world without end
Amen

Lord God almighty, come and dispel the darkness from our hearts, that in the radiance of your brightness we may know you, the only unfading light, glorious in all eternity.
Amen.

Let us bless the Lord:
Thanks be to God!

The God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing:
through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
