Thursday after Third Sunday of Easter
New Life - The Lord
O God, make speed to save us;
O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;* as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever.
Amen.

Antiphon: With you is the well of life,*
and in your light we see light. (Ps. 36.9)
Opening (from 36)
1 Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,*
and your faithfulness to the clouds.
2 Your righteousness is like the strong mountains,
your justice like the great deep;*

your people take refuge under the shadow of your wings.

Creator of the universe, from whom all things come, to whom all things return, give your people such unity of heart and mind, that all the world may grow in the life of your eternal kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Psalm 134you that stand by night in the house of the Lord.
2 Lift up your hands in the holy place and bless the Lord;*
the Lord who made heaven and earth bless you out of Zion.
God our creator and redeemer, give us grateful hearts and willing hands, that we may worthily praise your name and build your kingdom among all people, to the glory of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Conclusion
Colossians 1

Matthew 4.1-11
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was famished. The tempter came and said to him, If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread. But he answered, It is written,
One does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Then the devil took him to the holy city and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written,
He will command his angels concerning you,
and On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
Jesus said to him, Again it is written, Do not put the Lord your God to the test.
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour; and he said to him, All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me. Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan! for it is written,
Worship the Lord your God,
and serve only him.
Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels came and waited on him.

O God,

one God, world without end. Amen.
Lord God almighty, come and dispel the darkness from our hearts, that in the radiance of your brightness we may know you, the only unfading light, glorious in all eternity.
