Scottish Church Census

May 3, 2016

The Scottish Church Census 2016 is due to take place on 8 May.

Local churches across Scotland have been invited to take part in what is expected to be the most comprehensive survey ever undertaken of churchgoing in Scotland.
This is the fourth Scottish Church Census, and like those in 1984, 1994 and 2002 is intended to be a comprehensive survey of all denominations and every local church in Scotland. It will measure trends in churchgoing and also explore certain factors which are thought to lie behind some of the recent changes in churchgoing patterns.

Congregations should already have received materials for use in the Census direct from the Brierley Consultancy who are organising the Census on behalf of the Scottish Churches. If however any congregation has not received material, it can be downloaded from the following website:-

Congregations are strongly encouraged to participate in the census. The accuracy of its results will be enhanced by the greater the number of responses submitted. The outcome of the Census will assist the Churches in their mission in Scotland as well as being reported in the media.
