Bereaved families and those affected by the loss of a child have been invited to attend a Service of Remembrance at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Glasgow on Sunday 6 December at 2.30pm.

This annual service organised by staff from the Royal Hospital for Children (formerly Yorkhill) provides an opportunity to remember and give thanks for the young family members they have lost.

The service will be lead by the RHC Chaplain, Rev Jim Meighan and Rev Deacon James Kernaghan from St Peters and St Simon’s Church.  The music will be provided by Martin Kelly & Newton Mearns Baptist Church Music group.

Jim Meighan said:  “These services cannot be provided without the help and support of a small army of staff, volunteers and supporters. So on behalf of the families I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the planning and organisation.  This multi-denominational event provides families with an opportunity to meet with other people who understand the length, breadth and depth of what it means to lose a precious young member of the family. The end of the service is the most remarkable part of the afternoon with families, mums and dads coming together to laugh, cry, and comfort each other. Knowing you are not alone on this journey makes a huge difference and in truth I need to thank the families and friends who over the years, by simply being present, have contributed far more to these services than the rest of us ever could.”
