Jack joins Net Zero Team

March 14, 2024

The Net Zero Team continues to take shape with the addition of Jack Nevin as Innovation Coordinator.

Jack joins us from the Energy Saving Trust, where he administered grant and loan programmes on behalf of the Government relating to sustainable transport. He will bring the knowledge he has of government programmes and grant schemes to the administration of the Net Zero Action Plan.

Jack joins the team responsible for supporting and implementing the Scottish Episcopal Church’s Net Zero Action plan through provision of training, support and guidance to dioceses as they move towards Net Zero. He will aide in the provision of technical assistance and building partnerships between churches and various external partners.

Jack said: “I am driven by my love of the environment and passion to fulfil the mandate given to us by God to be stewards of His creation. There is no current greater challenge than the protection of our environment and I look forward to working with members of the Scottish Episcopal Church to fulfil this holy mission. I’m very excited to serve in this role and look forward to partnering with various diocese, churches and individuals as we work together to bring about a more sustainable Scotland.

“I am originally from the United States, but my mother is from Scotland and I have always felt this was my second home. I have been visiting family in Scotland since I was an infant and have been permanently based here for nearly ten years. I studied an undergraduate degree at the University of St Andrews in Social Anthropology and Middle East Studies, followed by a Master of Science from the University of Edinburgh in Comparative Public Policy and a further advanced masters degree from KU Leuven (Belgium) in European Policies and Public Administration. At KU Leuven I was a job-student at the Green Office, focused on organising cross-community events, in the pursuit of a carbon-neutral University and City by 2030.

“I’m an avid hiker, traveller and am currently in the process of pursuing my open water scuba diving certification.

“I have a passion for heritage, nature and policy and am thrilled to be combining these interests in this role. I look forward to supporting members of the church in the pursuit of Net Zero.”
