Prayers for the People of Gaza

May 15, 2018

The Most Rev Mark Strange, Bishop of Moray, Ross & Caithness and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church says “I have watched with shock as a unilateral political decision taken by the USA has developed into yet further horror for the people of Gaza and for those Palestinian and Israeli citizens who are trying to bring peace to this troubled part of our world.

“It cannot be acceptable to fire live ammunition at those who have the right to protest about their troubled land. When I heard today of the death toll and the many injured I again wept for the people in this area and troubles and pain they endure.

I am very much aware of the concerns shared by clergy who have either visited or who are in the Holy Land at this time and I hear the words of Archbishop Suheil Dawani when he addressed the Anglican Primates Meeting last October and asked us all to keep praying for the people and for peace.

“Where there is injustice we must have the courage to speak out. I ask those who wish to pray to do so … asking that peace may prevail.”
