Primus meets with the World Council of Churches delegation

November 2, 2021

The Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, Bishop Mark Strange and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Lord Jim Wallace, met with members of the World Council of Churches Delegation to COP26 on 1 November to discuss practicalities of their time in Glasgow, and to share the priorities of the delegation during the meeting.

The Primus, commenting said: “It was good to be able to spend some time with the WCC Delegation. I commend the appeal that was written for COP26. I was especially pleased to hear the firm re-commitment of the WCC delegation to keeping connected with those without access to the Blue Zone – the high level talks area – ensuring that as many stories as possible can be shared at that level during the conference.

“I echo the words in the report of the Acting General Secretary, the Rev Prof Dr Ioan Sauca who said: ‘We have an obligation to care for each other and for our common home, the Earth for which we were entrusted to be caretakers. Creation is not for some to consume and leave others behind.’”
