Risk Assessment

This page contains links to the Risk Assessment Training Package, a video presentation which explains how to use the Risk Assessment booklet that all churches should have received. Having viewed the video it is recommended that you take the Training Package Test.

Also below are links to the HSE Guidance on Risk Assessment, the official regulations and a list of hazards you might encounter.

Training Package & Assessment

This course should take between 35-45 minutes to complete.  Once complete you will receive a certificate to confirm your completion of the course.

Hazards associated with tasks carried out in or on our buildings & associated land

  • Asbestos
  • Breaking into walls, floors & ceilings (includes drilling)
  • Confined spaces (where there may be a presence of toxic atmosphere or shortage of oxygen)
  • Digging
  • Electricity
  • Fire (including the storage of flammable liquids).
  • Gas
  • Glazing and handling sharp items
  • Lone working
  • Manual handling (lifting and moving items)
  • Mobile plant (e.g. lawnmowers, diggers & powered access platforms).
  • Noise
  • Slips & trips
  • Substances hazardous to health, including dust and noxious fumes
  • Work equipment (e.g. strimmers, drills, tools, scaffolds, ladders etc)
  • Working at height (falls and falling items)
