Scottish Government Launches Climate Change Campaign

February 18, 2016

Saving the world isn’t just for the movies. That’s the message of a new national campaign from the Scottish Government to encourage more people in Scotland to help tackle climate change.

It comes after recent surveys revealed that around half of people living in Scotland acknowledge climate change is an immediate and urgent problem – and eight in ten could do more to care for the environment. The campaign will seek to raise awareness of how making greener and cleaner lifestyle choices is easier than many Scots think.  The campaign focusses on four key behaviours that Climate Challenge Fund projects already encourage their communities to adopt:

  • Turning your thermostat down by one degree
  • Washing clothes at 30 instead of 40.
  • Avoiding and recycling food waste
  • Leaving the car at home to walk shorter journeys

Climate Challenge Fund projects and their participants are saving the world everyday, and the Scottish Government is asking people to spread the campaign message by sharing campaign videos and messages.  It is also looking for human interest stories that highlight positive green behaviours in action
