Two more Net Zero positions are advertised – Sustainability Officer and Clean Energy Advisor

December 18, 2023

Two more Net Zero officer roles have been advertised, as the next stage of the Net Zero Action Plan for the Scottish Episcopal Church is rolled out.

Five new posts have been created to provide practical help and support to charges at local level, and the recruitment of the first three members of the team began last month. Now the two further vacancies – Net Zero Sustainability Officer and Net Zero Clean Energy Advisor – are open for applications.

The appointments will enable the Net Zero Delivery Director and the Provincial Environment Group to create an effective Net Zero Team to help deliver change across the Church and support the implementation of the targets in the Net Zero Action Plan 2023-30.

The five Team members who are hired by the province will offer their expertise to all dioceses of the Church, with each diocese having equal access to the officers. The team will be managed provincially by the Net Zero Delivery Director who will ensure that each diocese has at least one officer as a key contact for direct advice, guidance and support.

Last month, advertisements were placed seeking a Net Zero Innovation Co-ordinator, a Net Zero Empowerment Co-ordinator, and a Carbon Projects and Data Officer. The position of Carbon Projects and Data Officer is now being re-advertised.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 31 January 2024, with interviews taking place in the weeks commencing 19 and 26 February 2024.
